FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT MAY I EXPECT WHEN I CONTACT YOU?

I understand it can be difficult to make the first call. I speak directly with all clients. We discuss your current situation, reason for seeking therapeutic support, and if I am the right clinician for you. I return phone calls as soon as possible (Monday-Friday), typically within 24-72 hours.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?

As of February 1, 2023, the intake session (90 minutes) costs $180 and subsequent sessions (45-50 minutes) are $155. I am a fee-for-service practitioner and payment is expected at the time of the session. I do not accept insurance, and will provide documentation so that clients may submit claims to their insurance company. At this time, I only accept checks or credit cards through Ivy Pay.  Checks are made out to  Lamb Psychological Services, LLC.

WHAT IS COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY AND EXPOSURE WITH RESPONSE PREVENTION (ERP)?

There are various approaches that are used to facilitate psychotherapy, and I predominantly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), family systems, and psychodynamic techniques. I strive to work collaboratively with you, or your child, and provide an atmosphere that is warm, engaging and supportive.

When working with anxieties or fears, I utilize cognitive behavioral techniques, in which we develop a plan to gradually increase your exposure to the situations that are distressing to you or you are avoiding. As you gradually face the places and experiences that cause you distress, with prolonged and frequent exposures, you will notice that you are able to manage these experiences, and it becomes less stressful. Participation in exposure situations is completely in your, or your child’s, control and no one will force you to complete an exposure. This type of therapy is called Exposure Therapy or Exposure/Response Prevention Therapy, which is an evidence-based treatment for anxiety and OCD and has shown to significantly reduce levels of distress and anxiety in children and adults. We will discuss this approach in great depth and determine if it is the best treatment approach for you.
